An automatic rotary drum sieve for the mechanical removal of solid particles, such as seeds, plant matter, or clumps of hair, from solutions. The sieve is characterised by high efficiency, thorough cleaning, and problem-free operation in various water concentration conditions.

Construction

  • body with flow channel and intake, outflow, overflow, and cleaning valves
  • motor-driven slotted drum
  • catcher
  • cover

How it works

The water solution is sent through the intake valve and channel to the outside surface of a rotating slotted drum. The water flows through the slots, but the impurities are caught on the surface of the drum and removed from the intake channel by the rotation of the drum. Next the impurities are collected by the catcher and moved along an outflow tray for example to a conveyor belt or screw conveyor. The water from the drum flows out of the slots to the body and through the outflow valve to the outside. The outgoing water rinses the slots of the sieve of smaller particles which were not gathered by the catcher. Thanks to this, the sieve cleans itself in a fully automatic manner.

Technical data

The rotary drum sieve family of products ensures efficiency of from 30 to 2000 m3/h, depending on the size of the drum (diameter of 630 mm or 916 mm, length of 500 mm to 3000 mm) and the size of the slots.

The side walls of the drum sieve can be made from:

  • perforated sheet metal with a slot width of from 2 mm to 6mm (a sieve of this type may be used for preliminary cleaning of industrial sewage, for example to separate larger plant particles from rinse of cleaning water),
  • trapezoid wire rolled into a cylinder of from 0.25 mm to 3.0 mm (this type of sieve can be used for the careful cleaning of products, for example to remove plant matter from juices, and in sugar refineries to catch the pulp of the diffusion juice and pressing water).

The rotation of the drum is powered by a reduction screw with an inverter controlled motor. Thanks to this, there is constant regulation and choice of optimal settings for a given solution. The inverter also makes automatic increase of revolutions possible when a greater flow of waste material is noted.

Thanks to its open side walls, it is possible to clean the insides of the drum without dismantling it. The specially designed shape of the body means that the interior can be isolated by means of a cover. This can be very useful when a liquid exudes an unpleasant smell or the product, for example a juice, could be contaminated from the outside.

The drum of the rotary sieve is made of acid-resistant steel, and its weight, depending on the version, ranges from 250 kg to 1100 kg.
